Day 1
You will experience all the sights and sounds of Mauritania's capital. Here, nothing is staged, nothing is embellished - but much is unknown and fascinating. When the artistically painted pirogues of the Port de PĂȘche return home with their catch of the day, one can witness the hustle and bustle as boats are tied up, fish are cut up, and prices are haggled over. The camel market is one of the largest in West Africa. Whether a visit to the city garden or an evening tea at the beach - experience it during our Nouakchott tour. We also recommend taking a cab ride in Nouakchott. At the equivalent of 25 cents, it is quite affordable and yet an unforgettable ride. We will guide you through the city quarters including but not limited to: Tevragh Zeina, Capitale, Sebkha.
We start our tour early in the morning, after all we don't want to miss anything. In terms of timing, we are basically flexible and happy to accommodate you. However, our group will visit the fishing port (Port de pĂȘche) in the afternoon, as this is when the fishing boats return, the highlight of the day. Why not start the tour with a walk through the Capital market? Who knows, you might find a souvenir for your loved ones right away. The Saudi Mosque is also within walking distance. then we visit the netional museum. We recommend avoiding the blazing midday heat by visiting the Camel Market in the afternoon. We will end the day by having Tea at the Beach. Watch the waves break and process the impressions of the last few hours as you warm up next to the campfire on the beach. After dinner you will be transfered to your accommodation.
